Hey! I'm Bridgette, wife, homeschooling mama of 3, entrepreneur, Michigan native and coffee addict extraordinaire. I love photography, travel, teaching, crafting and Saturday afternoon movies with the family.
I am a former bilingual special education teacher who left public school teaching to homeschool my own kids who are now 4, 7 & 9. I've used my professional knowledge of child development & language acquisition along with my own personal experiences to raise my own kids with 5 languages, 3 of which I don't speak myself. We started with Spanish & English, both of which they are fluent in but when they showed interest in other languages we ran with it. While they're not yet fluent in those other 3, They're definitely picking them up faster than I ever imagined given that no one else in the family speaks them. In 2015, I launched a local language program to teach Spanish for young kids. Through that program, I have taught thousands of classes with hundreds of kids. Throughout my journey, I've found that there's a lot of confusion among parents raising multilingual kids and a lot of outdated research still floating around. I've created this blog (and it's associated Facebook Group) to dispel those myths and help other parents confidently raise their own kids to be multilingual. |
